It’s important to do some research before choosing a dentist in Chiang Mai. Just like in your home country, some dentists are better than others.
After talking with other expats and travelers who had visited various dentists in Chiang Mai, I narrowed down my list of possible clinics to those with the best ratings. Ultimately, I chose DC Dental Clinic because they were recommended by other expats, offered a low price for a complete cleaning, plus had amazing reviews.

5. Grace Dental Clinic
⭐️ RATING: 4.1
The Grace Dental Clinic has been providing excellent dental care to travelers in Chiang Mai for decades. One expat patient has been coming here for 22 years!
Though it may be a little pricier than some other clinics (just slightly), their patients feel like it’s worth it: the clinic maintains very high standards with exceptional facilities and is able to arrange appointments quickly even for specialty treatments.
Plus, their friendly and accommodating staff speak great English, making them a perfect choice for tourists from other countries. That sentiment is echoed by one traveler from England who said that the Grace Dental Clinic is better than any dentist they’ve ever had at home!

Managed by one of the largest dental clinic groups in Thailand, the sister clinic in Bangkok, Bangkok International Dental Center, has achieved the USA Joint Commission International (JCI) gold standard since 2012.
CIDC is proud of its elegant European-style clinic and modern equipment. Patients give 5 stars for high-quality care from their dentists. However, some reviews mention poor customer service/scheduling or having a procedure pushed that another dentist said wasn’t necessary.

Personal Chiang Mai Dentist Review: DC Dental
I’ve visited the dentist every 6 months my whole life, and have only had a couple of different dentists over the past few decades. So, I was really nervous when I went to the dentist in Chiang Mai for the first time.
I’ve been traveling full-time for more than 2 years now, and this was my first time visiting a dental clinic outside of the United States. I asked other expats from the US and Europe which dentist in Chiang Mai they used, and received quite a few tips. From there, I checked reviews and prices and settled on DC Dental Clinic.
Once I arrived at DC Dental Clinic, all my worries quickly dissipated. In many ways, there weren’t any noticeable differences from going to a dentist in the US. Except, you take off your shoes at the door Asian-style and put on provided sandals. After having a glass of water, filling out a quick form, I was ushered into a dental chair.
Dr. Bo and the whole DC Dental Clinic team were very friendly. She greeted me, took a look at my teeth, and explained what to expect during my cleaning appointment. One difference from the US is that they cover your whole face, with just your mouth exposed.
The dental assistant expertly suctioned around my mouth as Dr. Bo started to clean and polish my teeth – it had to be one of the fastest cleanings I have ever had! Dr. Bo also gave me some great tips for caring for my receding gums in between appointments before finally taking payment in cash from me at the end of my visit.
Overall, going to DC Dental Clinic in Chiang Mai has been an incredibly positive experience for me as an American traveler who is used to going to different dentists back home in the US. Two of my friends went for fillings the following week and also had great experiences (we celebrated with delicious bowls of khao soi after). And I plan to return for the teeth whitening one day!
🤩 👩🍳 My pick for the best cooking class in Chiang Mai is this small-group class with killer recipes and a near-perfect 5 Star rating! The best part is that every recipe can be adapted to be vegan or vegetarian!
Chiang Mai Dentist Prices
One of the reasons why dental care in Thailand is so popular among tourists is because of the quality and affordability of the services. I don’t have health insurance right now, which means dental visits in the United States would be pretty expensive.
Common Prices for Chiang Mai Dental Care:
- Basic Cleaning: 900-2,000 baht ($25-56 USD)
- Filling: 600-2,500 baht ($17-56 USD)
- Whitening: 8,000-12,000 baht ($227-341 USD)
Dental treatments are generally much cheaper than in other countries, but this does not mean that the treatment is any less professional or effective.
Dentists in Thailand offer a wide range of dental services at competitive prices, ranging from basic exams to complex treatments such as root canals and braces. The country also has a reputation for offering excellent cosmetic procedures such as teeth whitening, veneers, and implants.
You are usually charged a la carte style for dental procedures. Services like x-rays, medication, and sterilization fees are generally charged separately. Prices are usually provided as a range, with a higher charge if your procedure requires more time and effort. You should always clarify the pricing before your treatment to ensure no surprises.
Pros and Cons of Thailand Dental Care
Pros of Seeing a Dentist in Thailand:
- High standard of dental care: Thai dentists offer standards of care that are equivalent to those found in other developed countries.
- Cost savings: Compared to other places around the world, the cost of dental care in Thailand is significantly lower.
- Easy to access: Finding a dentist and making an appointment is easy with many clinics located in tourist areas.
- Quality equipment and materials: The materials used by Thai dentists are of good quality and they come at a fraction of the price you would pay back home.
Cons of Seeing a Dentist in Thailand:
- Language barriers: While most of the dentists on this list speak English, communication can still be difficult due to language barriers.
- Uncertainty: Just like back home, some dentists are better than others, and sometimes online ratings don’t show the full picture. Even though this is how it is back home, it feels scarier in a foreign country.
